The Constitutional council by the president’s interpellation will consider the amendments in law about religion in accordance with constitution

In the 8th of January the Constitutional Council decided to consider President’s appeal about correcting in accordance with Constitution in law “About amendment’s insertion and writing addition in legislative act about freedom of religion and religious organizations questions”, which was approved by the Parliament in the 26th of November in 2008 and which was undersigned by the President in the 2nd of December. About this information KazTAG received from the CC (Constitutional Council) press service.



The date of the next Constitutional Council sitting for consideration of this appeal will be informed in addition.


 


As we informed earlier, Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the OSCE (ODIHR/OSCE) expressed disappointment over the hasty adoption of amendments in legislative act about freedom of religion and religious organizations by the Kazakhstan Parliament.


 


ODIHR/OSCE expressed disappointment that the Parliament of Kazakhstan approved new law about freedom of religion and hope that this law will not be signed by the President of the Kazakhstan in present version with aim for the best closest fit by the international standards,- explained in the press release of centre of the OSCE in Astana.
