The report was prepared within the project carried out by the Kazakhstan International Bureau for Human Rights and Rule of Law with support of Freedom House and institutional support of the Open Society Institute-Budapest.
The Kazakhstan International Bureau for Human Rights and Rule of Law (KIBHR) conducts the regular monitoring of the situation with freedom of peaceful assembly in Kazakhstan. In 2010, while monitoring the peaceful assemblies held in six cities, the Bureau documented 64 peaceful assemblies, the majority of which had been unauthorized and restricted by the authorities. Some of the assembly organizers were even called to administrative liability.
