Amendments to legislation concerning death penalty reduce list of clauses providing highest punishment measure

The amendments to legislation of Kazakhstan concerning death penalty reduce the list of clauses providing the highest measure of punishment, the agency reports citing the press service of Majilis of Parliament.

According to the conclusion of Majilis Committee for Legislation and Judicial-Legal Reform, it has been suggested to introduce in the General part of the Criminal Code that the death penalty is pronounced only for the terrorist crimes connected with death of people, for especially serious crimes committed in wartime with granting a condemned the right to petition for pardon.”
